Frequently asked questions

I already have a CPA. Why do I need a bookkeeper?

Your CPA usually looks at your numbers once a year, at tax time. A bookkeeper keeps them right every month, so you always know where your business stands.

When tax season comes, your CPA starts with clean, matched books instead of a pile of statements. That means less back and forth and fewer surprises.

My books are months behind. Can you still help?

Yes, that's what catch-up bookkeeping is for. We go back through every month that's behind, record what's missing, fix what was entered wrong and match each account to your statements.

Once you're up to date, most clients move to monthly bookkeeping so it doesn't happen again.

What's included in monthly bookkeeping?

We record and categorize every transaction, match your bank and credit card accounts to your statements, and record payroll correctly in QuickBooks.

Each month you get a profit and loss and a balance sheet, plus one short list of anything we need from you.

Do you prepare or file tax returns?

No. We're bookkeepers. At year end we close out your books and send your CPA a package with your reports and the documents they need. Your CPA prepares and files your return.

Do you run payroll?

No. You or your payroll provider keep running payroll and filing payroll taxes. We make sure every payroll run is recorded correctly in your books and matches your bank account.

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many accounts you have, how many transactions go through them and whether your books are behind. After a short call we send you a written price, and nothing changes without your OK.

What do you need from me to get started?

Just a call to begin. If you decide to go ahead, we'll ask for access to your QuickBooks and your recent bank and card statements, and set up a safe way to share them.

Please don't send account numbers or financial records through the website.

Do you work with accounting firms?

Yes. We do bookkeeping for your clients under your firm's name. We check our work, then your team reviews and approves it before it goes to your client.
